Handcrafted Sun Umbrellas Born from 106 Years of Tradition

From Shizuoka artisans come handmade Japanese umbrellas that unite natural materials, lasting quality, and cultural heritage. today, Japanese sun umbrella making is now facing a crisis. Cheap products from overseas are flooding the market, the number of artisans is decreasing, and successors are disappearing. At this rate, the craft itself could be lost. This is a challenge shared by many traditional crafts, not just sun umbrellas. This project looks to nurture young artisans and once again bring the value of traditional handicraft to the world
