naderu is a meditation tool that was born to be touched. It has the warmth of wood and the calming, supple texture only possible thanks to urushi lacquer. By slowly moving and rubbing with your hands, you can slow and centre yourself as it quiets the heart. It is not something to simply look at, it is completed through touch. naderu brings this kind of "meditation through touch" into everyday life.
Rather than long vacations or special experiences, healing can be found in daily life, requiring no special technique or knowledge. When tired, when anxious, when the mind will not stop turning, simply picking it up and stroking it is enough.
Crafted by Watanabe Bijutsu Kogei, a lacquer craft company based in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, with roots tracing back to 1921. Choose from five distinct finishes: Fuki Urushi, Kijiro, Nashiji, Raden, and Negoro, each with its own character and depth.

From shaping natural zelkova wood to the final ro-iro mirror polish, each naderu passes through layers of hand-applied urushi lacquer, dried and polished again and again until its signature texture emerges.

From the wood-grained warmth of Fuki Urushi to the glimmering abalone shell of Raden, each of the five finishes changes the naderu's character, some quiet and refined, others catching light with every turn of the hand.
