A Modern Happi Jacket Made with Traditional Japanese Kasuri
Traditional Japanese happi have a beautiful form, but few chances to be worn in daily life. This new style reimagines the happi as something as easy to wear as a cardigan, keeping its relaxed silhouette while fitting naturally into everyday wear.
The front uses kurume kasuri, a textile with over 200 years of history, while the sleeves and back use soft 100% cotton knitted and dyed in Osaka, bringing together tradition and everyday comfort in one piece.
Made by Okamoto Shoten under their GIEMON brand, sourcing and weaving kurume kasuri since 1971 in Fukuoka Prefecture.

Woven, Not Printed

Kurume kasuri's soft blurred pattern comes from yarn dyed in stages before it's woven, not printed onto finished fabric, giving every panel its own quiet character and depth.

Built for Daily Wear

Ribbed cuffs keep the sleeves out of the way during everyday movement, and the finished jacket is fully machine washable, made for real life, not just for looking at.
