Jewel Kiriko Glass&Jewelry Collaboration 2025

The faceted cut of the gem was applied to the glass, creating a kaleidoscope-like glass. The cutting techniques that came from the West have evolved in a unique way in Japan, and patterns that are not found in other countries have been created. Recently, there has also been a modern change while still following tradition. The makers at Kawasho Co. are looking to create truly unique items that will shine on your table as well as your body!

The cuts used for Japanese cut and jewelry are similar, but different.
For jewelry, a technique called facet cutting is mainly used, which involves creating many small flat surfaces. Japanese Kiriko-Cut is cut using something called a diamond wheel, and involves rotating a small circular cutter to cut a V-shaped groove in a linear fashion, creating a geometric pattern.

The largest feature of Jewel Kiriko is the world that goes into cutting the patterns on the glass, which is extremely delicate work. This work is done by hand, and the intricate patterns take extreme precision to make, which makes these glasses stand out from others.
