GOLDREAM: Beautiful Gold Leaf Interior Art Pieces

A piece of modern interior art that is made using traditional processes by skilled artisans looking to pass the craft on. Gold Foiling is a traditional Kyoto crafting technique that has been passed down for close to 1000 years since the Kamakura era. The items that are available in this project make use of Kanazawa-made true gold foil, which is also recognised as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage item and is exceedingly thin at 1/10000mm. The technique used to apply this foil is done freehand, no matter the surface shape be it flat or of varying geometry, and is applied regardless of any bumps and curves, indents and protrusions

Delicately made using true gold foil

Each item is carefully crafted, removing the veins from the various leaves and then carefully coating them with a mixture of urushi lacquer and gold leaf. This process takes immense skill and patience, and applying just the tiniest amount of too much pressure can cause a failure in the work.
