The Folded Crane: Handcrafted with Pure Copper and Gold
A symbol of longevity and peace, plated in 1/1000mm gold by Japanese master craftsmen, folded by hand from a single copper sheet. In Japan, the crane, or tsuru (鶴) in Japanese, has long been revered and cherished as a symbol for longevity and a wish for good health. The crane is said to live for a thousand years, and as such symbolises a long and healthy life. The Folded Metal Crane is handmade by folding a single piece of pure copper just like you would do when making an origami crane.

An Ultra-thin Gold Plating

This crane is finished using the techniques of skilled artisans, who are able to give the product an ultra-thin gold plating of just 1/1000mm thickness. The plating technique that allows for such a delicate and precise finish is one that controls the deposition of metal at an extremely thin and uniform level, bonding it evenly to the surface

Folded by Hand

Each crane is folded by hand, before it is plated, and this is done so by gifted individuals with disabilities, and in doing so they are given fair compensation, helping to improve tough living standards that these people face.
